One month down, about twenty-six more to go!
I think the first month of the site went along fairly well. Every post went up as scheduled, when scheduled—and that in itself is a large part of the battle. There’s still a long way to go yet, but I am proud of this solid start. My only disappointment is not having the podcast up and running. There’s still plenty of time, of course, and it might be something that ends up being seasonal—like during the end-of-year awards events and Oscar season—but I do love to talk about movies. So while the podcast is still a work-in-progress, I am diligently working out areas in my daily schedule (I’ve a full-time job and a family, after all) to get the needed time to 1) record the podcasts, and 2) edit them.
Anyhow, I plan to do a monthly wrap-up post that can be a one-stop location for the daily posts throughout the month and current stats about which films were first-time watches for me, how many films are left to watch, and such. There isn’t a set format for this yet, so it might change, but here’s what happened on Best Picture Daily in May 2020. (Bold font indicates a Best Picture winner and an asterisk indicates the first time I’d seen the movie [some of these are embarrassing, but it is what it is].)
